Therapy With Bev

A path towards peace & healing

I am so glad you're here.

Seeking support for yourself can be challenging but you don’t have to do it alone. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore the nooks and crannies of your internal world. In our work together, you can begin to gain insight, learn tools, and redefine your identity in ways that feel empowering and authentic.

I offer in-person & telehealth services for adults, teens, and couples of all backgrounds and identities.

Hi, my name is Beverly.

I’m a therapist with a passion for helping people from all backgrounds heal from their emotional wounds. Being born and raised in the beautiful city of San Francisco, I was blessed to have been exposed to a multitude of distinct cultures. As a child of immigrants, my own journey of reconciling with the contrasting values, opinions, and expectations that come with living with multiple cultures has allowed me to understand the struggle of feeling as if we are living in two worlds.

I have come to understand that the parts of ourselves that are often overlooked and pushed away can lead to confusion, pain, and ultimately - suffering.

As your therapist, my goal is to help you re-discover and make peace with these parts of yourself so you can live a more fulfilling and authentic life.

From my own journey, I learned the importance of accepting all parts of ourself. This experience has informed my work as a therapist, and has given me the tools and empathy to help others pave their own paths toward self-acceptance and healing.

I earned my Masters of Art in Marriage and Family Therapy with an emphasis on Clinical Counseling from Touro University Worldwide. I had the opportunity to work at a number of non-profit, community-based organizations where I provided support to adults, teens, and couples of diverse backgrounds and identities and those bravely facing the challenges of domestic violence. These experiences allowed my passion for helping individuals navigate through their trauma and reclaim their identities, to blossom. Currently, I am in the process of earning my Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) certification.

I am committed to creating a safe and supportive space for you to explore your emotions and experiences. I believe that healing is a collaborative journey and I am honored to be a part of yours.

hi

I am currently accepting new clients - I offer modern therapy services for adults, couples, teens, and children (10+) of all backgrounds and identities in the state of California.

I can help you with..

Trauma & PTSD

Whether considered “big” or “small,” we have all experienced significant events in our lives that have impacted our level of functioning, moods, and the way we connect with ourselves and others around us. There is space for you to get in touch with your wounded parts and finally have the opportunity to heal.

Anxiety

While it’s a natural process that occurs in every one of us, anxiety can make us feel stuck in place and fearful of moving forward. We will explore how your anxiety has helped you, build a better relationship with anxiety, and implement better, healthy ways of coping with life’s stress and uncertainties.

Identity Development

Trying to discover who we are can be challenging because we’re exposed to various messages (often conflicting) about who we are, should be, and can be. Together, we will explore the cultural and societal factors that have influenced the way you view yourself so you can begin to feel empowered to redefine who you are with authenticity.

Emotional Regulation

Most of us were not taught how to deal with difficult emotions, leading us to feel overwhelmed, out of control, and ashamed. Together we’ll make space to acknowledge these feelings and find ways to manage them effectively so we can feel empowered by our emotions, rather than afraid.

Relationship Issues

Relationships are a big part of our lives. Whether it’s with our romantic partners, friends, family, or coworkers, it’s natural for conflicts to come up in our relationships. I provide a safe space for you to explore the patterns around your relationships and find healthy ways of relating to others.

Life Transitions

Life is filled with twists and turns. Whether you’re moving to a new city, starting school, or entering a new career field, it can be just as stressful and confusing as it can be exciting. We’ll explore what these new chapters mean for you in your life and find ways to embrace them.

hi

My Approach

  • As humans, we need connection to thrive. Looking deeper at your relationships can allow you to gain awareness about the patterns we find ourselves in when we’re with others, as well as the relationship you have with yourself. My work is informed by attachment theory and other relational theories.

  • We often think of trauma as major events in our lives but we don’t realize that the core experiences we have growing up can also impact us in such profound ways. Childhood wounds that stem from our relationship with our parents and family members can have a significant impact on how we view the world. I believe it is important for us to be mindful of the influence trauma can have on our emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.

  • We all have different sides to us, whether they’re parts we are proud of or parts we feel ashamed of and hide away from the outside world. My work involves helping you stand from a place of curiosity and get in touch with all parts of yourself. I enjoy incorporating parts-work in our sessions in order to allow space for understanding, self-compassion, and confidence in your ability to handle all of life’s challenges.

  • No matter who you are or where you are in your life, you belong. As your therapist, I provide a space where you are able to be your authentic self. My work is identity-affirming and mindful of how social systems and power dynamics play a role in our belief systems. I am also ethical non-monogamy and poly-affirming.

“Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you, doesn’t mean you can, should, or need to do it alone.”
